"excel in this grace of giving" (2 Cor. 8:7)

There's an app for that: digital giving

The internet and social media are changing the way we do things so it should be no surprise that they are changing how we give as well. Just Giving, Facebook, YouTube and the rest help more good causes reach more people and tell richer stories than ever before. The opportunities are there but, as with all good giving, we need a confident 'digital ask' and show that good giving changes lives.
In a rapidly changing digital world it can be hard for churches to know where to start, never mind to keep up. Here's the thing: we cannot do everything but we can all do something. A simple, updated website with a digital giving button is a place to start and never forget that the trusty standing order and Direct Debit are forms of digital giving. How might you harness the social media some in the congregation and wider community are already using? Are we offering our donors, regular and occasional, multiple ways to make their gifts? Chapter five of Beyond the Collection Plate does not have all the answers but it does suggest some places we might start looking for answers.
