Thanksgiving service

Referring to the financial gift for Jerusalem, Paul challenged the church at Corinth, 'now finish doing it, so that your eagerness may be matched by completing it according to your means' (2 Cor. 8:11). A Thanksgiving Service heeds this warning, marking the end of Giving in Grace, no more than two weeks after the last sermon in the preaching series.
A Thanksgiving Service serves three purposes. First, it sets a date for the return of the response forms and thereby starts follow-up activity. In most cases this will be no more than a fortnight after the final sermon in the series. Second, a Thanksgiving Service provides a liturgical ending to the programme with the offering of response forms comprising a distinct and joyful part of the liturgy. Finally, a Thanksgiving Service links the financial response to worship, discipleship ministry and mission and seals the commitment of the individual.
