Visitor Training (follow-up)

Follow-up visiting in response to requests for information is not at all complex or something to make visitors nervous. Visits are made to people who have asked for the information. However, follow-up visiting is an important part of the programme so, to relax the visitor and give confidence, a little training is advisable.
At the outset, please be very clear that follow-up visiting is different from home visiting, an optional element in Designing the Programme. In follow-up visiting, our visitors are not there to request an increase in giving or even to talk about Giving in Grace. Their visit has two purposes. The first is to bring information that has been already been requested (e.g. Gift Aid declaration) to church members who are expecting a call. Second, the visit is about building personal relationships so that the response is much more than a financial transaction.
