Frequently Asked Questions
The following FAQs address the problems we have encountered so far. If you have a technical question about the website that is not addressed here please email carol.griffiths@liverpool.anglican.org. We trust that you will understand that the Resources Department in the Diocese of Liverpool has limited capacity. We can only offer advice on running a Giving in Grace programme to Anglican parishes within the Diocese of Liverpool. If you are seeking additional help please click to the Contacts page for further advice.
File formats and downloads
On each web page links are provided to any additional files that are needed - files in MS Word, PowerPoint. or Excel format. Working documents that require editing are offered in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and, very occasionally in Publisher. In addition to the links on each page every file that may need to be downloaded can be located on the Downloads page. So if for any reason the link on a given page is broken or you cannot find what you are looking for you can search the Downloads page for the relevant file.
Documents that do not require editing are usually offered in Adobe PDF format. To read these files you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your computer.
This is a free download; click here.In addition a copy of every file on the web site is provided on the Downloads page in the web standard Acrobat .pdf format. The Acrobat files will at least allow you to view the files if you do not have access to the MS Office software. You can also copy and paste text from the Acrobat files into your own word processor or DTP package.

Technical questions:
When I print off a web page, I lose the right hand side. How do I correct this?
To print off a web page successfully it may be necessary to adjust the page margins in Internet Explorer. Adjusting the page margins is simple to do. In Internet Explorer click File and on the drop down menu and then click Page Setup. In the dialog box set each of the four Margins boxes to 0. Now each page should print out properly.

When I download a Word document, the text and images are jumbled up.
We have made every effort to make the necessary files accessible in versions of Word from 97 to 2003. However, in some cases, the files still appear jumbled. This may be as much to do with the printer drivers on your computer as the version of Word you are using. Some files have separate links in older Word formats. Try using this version to see if that helps. Alternatively, try our downloads page. The file you need may be there in "pdf" format. To download this you will need to have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on you computer. Click here to get this free download.

I don't have Microsoft Word, Excel or PowerPoint. How can I see these files?
If you don't have programs that can read Microsoft Word, Excel or PowerPoint. files, we have converted many of our files to pdf files, which you can view with Adobe Acrobat Reader (see grey panel above). .Although it is unlikely that you can edit these files, you will be able to see what they should look like, and for important documents like the brochure, you can copy and paste the text into your own word processor or desk top publishing package. Go to our downloads page for a list of available files.
Alternatively, you may also want to consider using Open Office, free software which will adequately read and edit most Microsoft Office files. But be warned, this is a very large download which will take a long time!

Where do I find downloads?
Each web page has icons and text hyperlinks to the relevant download files in MS office format. All the download files can also be opened from the Downloads page which also has an Adobe Acrobat .pdf version of each file.

I am an Apple Mac user. Will this site work for me?
We have been unable to ensure that the website works on every platform and version of browser. However, we believe that it will work on Power Macs using OS9.2 or 10.x with Safari or Internet Explorer 5.x. Due to lack of development time, the site may not work on older versions than these. Users that don't have MS Word for Mac may have difficulty with the downloads, so we have provided pdf alternatives on our downloads page. The pdf downloads may also be useful where the Word files formatting appears to be corrupted.

The buttons on the left hand side of the Gift Aid pages don't show or work
You need to download Flash Player to make them work. Click here to download Flash Player.
Giving in Grace Programme questions:
Where do I find resources for children and teenagers?
You'll find these in the Preaching section of the website.
When should we return our Evaluation form to Resources?
Within a month of the Thanksgiving service. While this applies primarily to the Anglican churches within the Diocese of Liverpool we hope that all churches will send a copy of their evaluation form so that we can monitor usage, receive constructive criticism and improve the web site and its resources. Please email completed evaluations to Carol Griffiths.
