Visitor Packs

The training for parish visitors will familiarise the visitors with the literature to be distributed to those being visited and the supplementary materials which provide additional information to meet enquiries from those visited. This literature is gathered together by the parish visiting administrator in a visitor pack which is discussed at the training.

• The visitor pack will include a copy of the written communication received by each person visited (This consists of a copy of the brochure, the clergy ask letter and the response form along with a reply envelope).
• Remember that the person being visited will be in one of the differentiated groupings: Core, Congregation or Fringe. The training will explain these groupings and visitors must make sure make sure that they get the right letter and response form!
• The visitor pack will also include supplementary information that those visited may require. This will include:
  • Gift Aid: a Gift Aid declaration and an explanatory Gift Aid leaflet to leave with new Gift Aid givers
  • Standing orders: A standing order form and an explanatory leaflet for those new to standing orders
  • Planned giving: an explanatory leaflet about the planned giving scheme. Arrangements will need to be made for a pack of envelopes to be delivered if requested.
  • Legacies: There will be special arrangements for legacy information. An explanatory legacy leaflet may be available but will depend on the church's preparation.
• Also needed is a simple visiting details paper which has the name, address and phone number of each person to be visited. This should also have space for the visitor to record any special requests made during the visit, such as a visit from the Vicar, prayer requests or offers of help and support in the church etc..
