MusicThe hymns and/or songs used during worship play an important part in setting the tone (no pun intended) of a church service. The words and music chosen, when appropriate to the theme being taught and the tradition of the church, can subtly aid the congregation's engagement with the sometimes difficult subject of christian giving. Each christian tradition has its own wealth of hymns and songs, both traditional and modern, that can be used to great effect within a Giving in Grace programme. At the same time, having such an enormous amount of material to chose from can also be a daunting prospect to those who find selecting the music for Sunday a difficult task. As an aid to those leaders who find themselves in this position, we are happy to pass on some of the suggestions we have received. We are grateful to the parish of St Matthew and St James, Mossley Hill, in Liverpool for starting off this section of the website with their music ideas around the Exodus preaching track. If parishes would like to suggest additional material that would enhance the resources provided from this page, please let us know by contacting the Resources Team.
Note: If you are reproducing the words of hymns or songs on a service or notice sheet, please be sure that you have the correct level of copyright licence. |
