Using Action Scenes
Action Scenes offer a creative way for both children and adults to engage with the biblical story when churches are following the all age Preach Exodus! preaching track. Actions Scenes are pictures that retell the Bible story for the week and have been specially commissioned for Giving in Grace by professional artist Andy Robb. The Action Scenes not only tell the Bible story but make possible reflection upon the story by using the picture interactively. Individuals and groups can discuss the pictures, identify with characters in the pictures and add words to them.
Locating the Action Scenes is straightforward. They are found in the Preach Exodus! section of the Giving in Grace website. The Preach Exodus! home page has links to a resource page for each week of the Preach Exodus! series. On that page can be found two files:
- The Action Scene illustration for the week. The Action Scenes are in Acrobat Portable Document Format (PDF). You may need to download the PDF reader to access the files.
- A document entitled Action Scene Instructions . This document contains a full description of how to use the Scene with a group, whether adults or children or all learning together Action Scenes can be used by both adults and children therefore children’s ministry leaders will need to simplify the Action Scene instructions to suit the children.
Normally each week you will need a copy of the Action Scene for each member of the group or the congregation. However, it might be possible for small groups to work together on an enlarged copy of the picture.
