Agenda for the third Planning Meeting

  1. Opening prayer
  2. Preaching and teaching:
    a) The preaching coordinator introduces a discussion using the document Why Preaching Matters.
    b) The group agrees the appropriate preaching track(s).
    c) Discuss aspects of the preaching programme: visiting preachers, all age options, seasonal issues (e.g. Harvest or Mothering Sunday), financial presentations.
  3. The involvement of children and young people.
    Discuss the involvement of children and young people and any necessary discussions with youth and children's leaders.
  4. Communication and database:
    a) Review the differentiated database.
    b) Agree the use of any magazine articles or newsletters including timing.
  5. Interaction:
    The interaction coordinator introduces a discussion using the document Why Interaction Matters,
    a) Will small groups be part of the interaction strategy?
    b) Will a parish visiting strategy be part of the programme?
    c) Arrange a briefing or parish visitor training event, if necessary.
    d) Will social events play a part in the programme?
    Take action on decisions to use any or all of the above options.
  6. Complete draft of Case Statement:
    Draw together programme design (Section 5) and fill out gift array (Section 4).
  7. Prepare for the PCC/DCC meeting:
    Agree lead roles for presenting the four items below. A PowerPoint presentation is available as a template for the PCC/DCC presentation. Even if you are not using the presentation, the notes and flow will help you plan the evening.
    a) Theology - use the discussion paper to lead the PCC/DCC in the Bible study used during the first Planning Group meeting.
    b) The draft case statement prepared by the Planning Group.
    c) Differentiation: explaining the principle and giving an outline of suggested definitions.
    d) The challenge for the leadership to respond first to the financial challenge.
  8. Leadership:
    Agree consultation and 'one to one' approach on case statement to the PCC/DCC and core group.
    Individual members of the Planning Group gifted to do visiting should do this.
  9. Go through the planning checklist.
  10. Confirm date, time and venue of next meeting.
  11. Closing prayer
