"excel in this grace of giving" (2 Cor. 8:7)

Socials and sketches

The timing of an annual review is a local decision. It may be a patronal festival, a church anniversary, the annual church meeting, a 'stewardship Sunday' or the start of the financial year. Some are already times of celebration and all can be enhanced by a social event. A social can range from coffee, cake and a short presentation after the Sunday service to a Saturday night Epiphany party on the theme, 'Making Jesus Known'.
An annual review is an opportunity to share the achievements of the past year, the challenge and opportunities ahead and the invitation to review the giving which sustains ministry and mission. The download document, Eat and rejoice: the value of social events explores the possibilities further. In addition, the scripts on this page can be edited and used in church services or socials to provide a fun way into communicating the financial facts - as can a simple financial presentation.
