The Parish Giving Scheme

The Parish Giving Scheme is used by the majority of Church of England dioceses. Powered by Direct Debits, the Parish Giving Scheme facilitates in excess of £75 million from more than 75,000 givers to well over 4,500 communities. Where the Parish Giving Scheme is available it is the most effective and efficient way to give to your local church and underpins committed, generous discipleship.
The Parish Giving Scheme (PGS) is the most effective way to give regularly for Church of England parishes. A charity with its own Board of Trustees, from 1st January 2024 the PGS funding comes from the Archbishops’ Council via a grant from the Church Commissioners. This means that the PGS is accessible to every parish and it can be used at no cost to either the local church or the diocese. There are no fees, no deductions.

The PGS is easy to join by phone, post or online. Powered by Direct Debits but in the total control of the giver, the PGS has all the advantages of Standing Orders plus: automatic monthly Gift Aid claims, less finance admin and better cash flow. The PGS offers givers a robust, secure way to give our first fruits, the option to inflation link our gifts and enables one-off gifts. (Rhoi yn Syth (Gift Direct) from the Church in Wales has similar functionality.)

Download the PGS information leaflet to assist your response. It is a ready to print PDF generic leaflet or can be customised easily online (Canva). The customise your leaflet video offers editing guidance, using the Gift Aid leaflet as an example.
