Why visiting matters

Jesus told his first disciples, "Come and see" (John 1:39) - an invitation to a conversation. Home visiting makes possible personal conversations around financial needs and aspirations and encourage a personal response. Stewardship is an invitation to respond to God's grace; the more personal that invitation the more effective it will be.
Home visiting is an optional but rewarding feature in the architecture of a Giving in Grace programme. Indeed at one time such visiting was commonplace in stewardship programmes. Any memory of that may or may not be helpful. There may be anxieties but it is well worth having a positive discussion in the planning group using the paper Come and See to explore the possibiliy. It is important to be clear that this optional home visiting is different from the personal follow up visiting which is an essential part of Giving in Grace
